Counseling Individuals and Families with Christian Principles

Connie Clark, Ph.D.

YOUR THERAPIST

I have a BS, MA and PhD in Psychology. I am a NCCA licensed Clinical Christian Counselor, a NCCA licensed Pastoral Counselor and a NAFC certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. For the past 12 years, my counseling background includes working as a psychotherapist at Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and at Christian Professional Counseling Services in New Mexico. In the past I have also taught Marriage & Family, Counseling, Psychology and Sociology as a professor at Eastern New Mexico University and several colleges in Texas, New Mexico and Kansas. Currently, I am in private practice in Kansas.

My professional memberships include the American Association of Christian Counselors; Coalition for Christians in Private Practice; International Society for Mental Health Online; The American Psychotherapy Association (Diplomat Status); National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists; National Association of Forensic Counselors; American Counseling Association; and Coalition for Marriage, Family and Couple Education.

I have been a Christian for over 35 years. I believe in the following:

· In one God, the creator who exist in three persons - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
· The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God. The Bible is the final authority on all matters of life, faith and practice.
· In Jesus Christ, the son of God, who came to earth in human form and by His death, burial and resurrection has made salvation for man by His free grace.
· That the Holy Spirit makes the presence of Jesus Christ real in believers and that He comforts, guides, convicts and enables believers to live in ways that honor Him.
· Those who believe and trust in Jesus Christ alone are born of the Holy Sprit, true members of the church, and will spend eternity with Christ.

As a Christian Counselor I see that humans are very complex beings involving physical, psychological, social and spiritual aspects. The goal of my Christian counseling is to provide counseling and education to individuals, families and couples to grow and heal in the context of Christian faith.

In addition to my counseling, I speak at church retreats, Christian conferences, business seminars and colleges (see seminars). I also write for our local newspaper in their Family Life Column and have published several articles in journals and magazines. I am 45 years old and am married and have three children. As a family we enjoy boating, fishing and camping. I enjoy bird watching, singing and playing the piano.
